This November Defected Records re-releases Terrence Parker’s Life On The Back 9 album, along with previously unavailable tracks and remixes from Louie Vega, Carl Craig and Parker himself.

Described variously as an innovator, a champion of soulful house music and a true ‘DJs DJ’, Terrence Parker has touched and inspired many hearts over the course of his long and illustrious career. A Detroit pioneer for a style of music that perhaps doesn’t naturally fit with his city of origin, Parker has thrived on pushing boundaries both in the studio and behind the decks, and his latest album, Life On The Back 9, further cements his legacy.

Previously released on Carl Craig’s seminal Planet E Communications, this new edition will include a number of previously unreleased and limited-release cuts.

The CD version includes 12 original Terrence Parker productions on disc one, while an additional 10 remixes make up disc two, with stunning contributions from the likes of Louie Vega, Carl Craig, Marc Romboy and Marc Flash. Nine additional tracks are included on the digital version, including three brand new and exclusive remixes of ‘GOD HE Is’, one the standout cuts from the original release.

Says Parker of the re-release: “It has been a dream of mine to have a release on Defected because I have always admired their quality releases. Since the 90's, I have always played at least two or three records from Defected in my DJ sets.

“This album has close personal meaning for me and to have it released on Defected is an overwhelming honor.”

Terrence Parker - "Pentecost" with remixes by Traumer & Terrence Parker out now on Defected Records

King Street's going to Motor City! To the land that spawned Detroit Techno and such greats as Derrick May, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson. From this great Detroit heritage also came Pioneer DJ, Terrence Parker. From his humble beginnings doing on-air mixes for a local station in Michigan, he's gone on to do some amazing original productions and remixing many indie and major artists alike. In addition to producing music for his own Intangible/PMW imprints, Terrence has released on labels Planet E Communications, Defected, Nervous, King Street and many more. He's also appeared on TV programs throughout the world including VIVA (Germany) and MTV (UK). Terrence was also featured in The Guinness Who's Who of Rap, Dance & Techno, USA The Rough Guide To House Music and other related books. He's played at just about every club and festival on the planet, and now Terrence Parker joins the family of House producer/DJs who have graced one of the longest-running series in House Music, Mix The Vibe. Now on the 20th Edition, Terrence joins David Morales, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Kerri Chandler, Shinichi Osawa, Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell, Frankie Feliciano, Cevin Fisher, Doc Martin, Osunlade, Dj Spinna, Mr. V, Ron Trent, Peter Rauhofer (Club 69), Lord G, Quentin Harris, DJ Spen & Teddy Douglas and Dj Pierre. Culling 18 classic King Street tunes like Rain / a Lil Louis Painting "Give It Up" (MAW Flute Instrumental), Blaze pres. UDAUFL "We Are One" (Kiko Navarro Viva UR Dub), and Groove Box's "Cassio's Theme", Terrence also revamps tunes like Kerri Chandler ft. Treasa "Diva" Fennie's "Heal My Heart" (TP Re-Edit), Tears of Velva's "The Way I Feel" (TP Deeep Detroit Heat Re-Edit), and Less Hate and Jerome Robins' "Empty" (TP Re-Edit). In addition, Terrence throws in a few newer titles for extra rump-shakin' like Apollo 84 feat. Maxine Hardcastle's "Words That You Say" (Jamie Antonelli Remix) and Man Without A Clue's "I Got A Funky Vibe." Game, skill and greatness; this man certainly has it all.
